Hot Buttered Rum serves 6 - 8

  • 30g / 1oz of unsalted butter
  • 4-6 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 300ml / 1/2 pint dark rum
  • 300ml/1/2 pint orange juice ( smooth)
  • 300ml / 1/2 pint water
  • 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves

Method.

  1. Gently heat all the ingredients in a pan until the butter and sugar has melted.

  2. Strain through a sieve and pour into small cups or shot glasses

  3. Sprinkle with extra nutmeg before serving.
